The heliport at St. Anne’s University Hospital was built on the roof of the new intensive care pavilion, opened on 7 October 2015. The pavilion houses 12 operating theatres (six aseptic, six septic), linked to central sterilisation and the post-operative intensive care unit.
The facility includes a high-standard emergency department, inpatient wards for the Anaesthesiology and Resuscitation Clinic, and the rooftop heliport. Patients arriving by helicopter can now be transported directly to surgery via elevator. Previously, helicopters landed on a temporary ground-level helipad behind Pavilion J, requiring transport across the hospital yard.
In 2015, the heliport underwent major upgrades, including lighting, allowing emergency teams to operate at night.
