The iconic Tugendhat House in Brno, built between 1928 and 1930 in the Černá Pole district, is traditionally opened to visitors of Open House Brno with a guided tour of its garden. This year, however, we have something extra in store for you.

Anyone with even a passing interest in modern architecture knows that the renowned architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe designed this famous house, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. What fewer people are aware of is that the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture, named after Mies van der Rohe, also honours architects across Europe, with Czech architects regularly being nominated, including those from Brno.

In a presentation by the Kuba & Pilař architectural studio, you will be able to learn more about the buildings they have designed, several of which have been nominated for this prestigious award in different years.
