The gardens of the Černopolní villas were once a single orchard, seamlessly connecting the spaces of the Low Beer, Arnold, and Tugendhat villas. They also extended to the Kaiser villa to the south and the Giskro villa to the north of the open space. Visitors will experience the unique environment that inspired architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in creating his unparalleled work.
The original design of the garden of the Tugendhat villa was contributed by the Brno-based landscape architect Markéta Müllerová. After eighty years, Přemysl Krejčiřík took on the successful reconstruction. He realized the architects' dreams of covering the façade with climbing plants and revived the terraces below the villa. The network of paths with crushed stone surfaces, walls, stairs, terraces, and the viewpoint under the willow tree were restored to their original forms. The placement of individual rooms, with views aimed at the landmarks of Brno, reflects the landscape context of the gardens of the Černopolní villas, which, years ago, had no fences separating them.
Atelier Krejčiříkovi from Valtice also contributed to the reconstruction of the Arnold villa garden. The ninety-minute tour will walk through and gradually comment on the entire area between the three villas.
