Built in 1935–36, the Agudas Achim Synagogue is a rare example of modernist Jewish sacred architecture and the only synagogue in Moravia and Silesia still serving its original religious purpose.
Designed by architect Otto Eisler, the functionalist building features a large square window on the street façade and a bright central prayer hall with a gallery for women. The layout respects traditional Orthodox practices, with the Torah ark on the eastern wall.
The synagogue is the sole survivor of Brno’s original four synagogues. It was carefully restored in 2016, preserving Eisler’s masterful balance of Orthodox ritual requirements with modernist simplicity.
