Kimono Coffee is a stylish café in Brno, located on the corner of Bayerova and Burešova streets, close to Lužánky Park and the Supreme Court. As the name suggests, its furnishings, offering and overall vibe combine a contemporary café concept with refined Japanese aesthetics and minimalism.
The owner is the well-known jewellery maker Luboš Korbička, who fulfilled his long-held dream of opening a business designed entirely to his own vision. He came across the corner premises as the previous tenant was leaving. At that time, the interior was neglected, and a demanding renovation took two years. The interior concept and full branding were created by the Brno-based Steezy Studio, to whom the owner entrusted the project.
Both the interior and exterior are primarily wood-based, enlivened by distinctive lighting design and coloured plastic elements introduced by the studio. Most of the furnishings are custom-made, from the bar and shelving to the seating. A striking feature is the red plexiglass ceiling, which after dark bathes the café in a unique atmospheric glow, along with details such as menus printed on cotton paper and embossed coffee packaging. The building is a unique combination of high-quality solid wood craftsmanship and modern coloured plastics. The outdoor seating flows seamlessly from the interior. The owner’s aim is not only to serve specialty coffee, but also to introduce guests to the modern ritual of drinking premium Japanese teas.
