Jazzmin Bar & Dining is an elegant multifunctional venue located on the ground floor of the Courtyard by Marriott hotel in the Spielberk district of Štýřice, Brno. This distinctive space, inspired by the jazz heritage of New Orleans, offers high-end dining and expertly crafted cocktails.
The architectural design was created by studio Acht, which completed the hotel in 2016, in collaboration with Ing. arch. Michaela Nováková and VOS Design. The recent refurbishment, commissioned by developer CTP and the Marriott hotel group, was driven by the need for a complete redesign of the original restaurant. The aim was to enlarge the bar, visually connect it more closely with the exterior, and ensure excellent acoustics for regular jazz performances.
The generous 430 m² interior is carefully divided into smaller zones, creating both an intimate bar atmosphere and spaces for social gatherings. A defining feature is the 11-metre-long bar made of American walnut and clad in brass, a material motif that also extends to the building’s façade. The architectural character is reinforced by a combination of original elements—such as ammonia-treated oak parquet floors, marble-clad columns, and travertine—and new luxury materials including gold and blue velvet. The space is further enriched by Michal Škapa’s neon art, colourful pendant lighting by Bocci, and a painting by Karel Černý. Details such as golden acoustic ceilings and restrooms with red backlighting and gold fittings complete the overall aesthetic.
Today, Jazzmin functions as a vibrant cultural hub connecting hotel guests, the business community, and the public. Thanks to close cooperation with JazzFest Brno and the jazz department of JAMU, it regularly hosts concerts as well as stand-up performances and discussions. The venue thus fulfils its ambition to be a modern urban campus with its own style, heart and soul.
