The original building of the Secondary School of Economics at Pionýrská Street 23 now houses the newly established Natural Science Gymnasium, which is part of the Secondary Chemical Engineering School and Gymnasium in Brno, located at Vranovská Street 65.

The Secondary Chemical Engineering School and Gymnasium Brno (SPŠCHG) was founded as an independent Higher Vocational School of Chemistry on September 1, 1951, when it separated from the textile engineering school. The early years of the school were challenging. Initially, classrooms were located in the building of the Grammar School of Husovice on Vranovská Street, while laboratories remained in the School of Textile Industry on Francouzská Street. When the grammar school moved to Husovice, the School of Chemistry gained additional space, allowing both general and specialized classes to be taught in one building. Since the 1998/1999 academic year, the entire building has been used exclusively by the chemistry department.

With the introduction of new fields of study and specializations, new specialized laboratories and classrooms were created, and facilities for both student and teacher activities—study, work, and leisure—were developed. In 2011, thanks to grants from the South Moravian Regional Council, the school received new windows and a renovated facade. Ongoing renovations and developments continue to aim at providing students with the highest quality of education and training.

In 2024, the school expanded with a new branch—the Natural Science Gymnasium at Pionýrská Street 23. The original building, which had served as the Secondary School of Economics, later a Business Academy and Higher Vocational School, was transferred to SPŠCHG on September 1, 2020. This building underwent extensive reconstruction and an additional storey from January 1, 2023, to August 28, 2024.

The new gymnasium is equipped with well-appointed chemistry, physics, and biology laboratories, with the required infrastructure for natural science education, with a focus on chemistry. Specialized classrooms are also available for ICT, foreign languages, music, and art education. The building also includes a gymnasium, a mirrored gymnastics hall, and a fitness room. In addition, the building offers a library, study rooms, and well-being spaces to inspire students.

Following its opening on September 1, 2024, the gymnasium now educates 90 students across three classes with a focus on natural sciences. Students come not only from Brno and the surrounding area but also from the South Moravian region and Vysočina. Today, SPŠCHG is a modern educational institution linked with universities, research centres, and professional practice, preparing students for rigorous academic studies and future careers.
