Špitálka is the oldest facility of Brno Heating and the first combined heat and power plant of its kind in former Czechoslovakia. It produces heat as steam and hot water, alongside electricity, and has been in operation since 1930.

The plant features historical equipment, including a Kolben Daněk boiler, alongside modern high-efficiency boilers meeting strict environmental standards. It played a key role in reducing factory smoke and fuel transport in Brno.

Visitors can see the western part of the site, dominated by the plant’s concrete cooling tower, and learn about both its technical history and future plans for the surrounding area, which will become the new “Smart District Špitálka.”
