The present Quality Hotel Brno, located in close proximity to the Brno Exhibition Centre and the Velodrome, is likely still remembered by Brno residents under its former name, Holiday Inn.
The hotel, built in 1992 according to a design by the architects Aleš Jenček, Viktor Rudiš, and Martin Rudiš, is based on the footprint of an isosceles triangle, in which pairs of five-storey hotel wings form an angular central ground floor area with a lobby and social spaces. Between 1999 and 2000, a congress hall was added to the hotel, designed by the architects Markéta Veselá, Ladislav Vlachynský, Jaromír Forentík, and Pavel Bezpalec.
The two-storey elongated hall, shaped by the limited possibilities of the building plot, is connected to the hotel via a glazed covered bridge at the first-floor level. The building is functionally and spatially divided into three parts: the entrance hall, the foyer, and the congress hall for 300 people. The congress hall’s open space gently rises via ramps, complemented by suspended galleries and a glass cube press centre. The effort to minimize confined spaces is reflected not only in the airy concept of the building but also in its transparent glass facade and subtly lit interior.
The four-star Quality Hotel Brno Exhibition Centre offers everything needed for both short and long stays. It features up to 200 modern and stylish rooms, eight conference rooms, secure parking, a wellness centre, and a restaurant.
