This café is a cosy space with an unmistakable Berlin-inspired atmosphere. It serves as a community hub for locals and lovers of specialty coffee, all in a minimalist DIY style.
The concept was created in 2016 by owners Klára Švandová and Martin Dutkiewicz, who designed the interior themselves with the help of barista Jiří Giesl. Their aim was to create an informal venue inspired by travels around the world. Before the renovation, the space housed a fruit and vegetable shop, still recalled today by the preserved sign on one of the shop windows.
The interior is defined by a large bar made of stained and charred pine wood and distinctive “Saudek-style” walls with sponge-applied textures. Outside, a large shopfront window organically connects the interior with the life of the street. Details include vintage school chairs and lighting designed by Jan Novotný.
Today, Punkt on Bayerova Street is a well-established fixture of Brno’s café scene and regularly receives recognition in the Gourmet Brno project.
