Brno Public Transport Company (DPMB), Novobranská

The Brno Public Transport Company (DPMB) headquarters is located in a corner building on Novobranská Street 18, designed by architects Raw and DRNH between 1995 and 2001.

The city building features vertical articulation and sits in a gap between neighbouring developments. It has a prominent rounded corner with an entrance hall spanning two floors and a central staircase. The exterior design reflects the building’s function and the era of its construction, with traditional forms, materials and colours typical of urban architecture.

The building has a travertine façade, a two-storey entrance hall with gallery, and a ground floor supported by columns with full-height glazing. Part of the roof terrace is built as a partial additional floor, while windows facing the St. Voršila convent garden are minimal.

Most Brno residents know the DPMB headquarters as a place to buy tickets or pay fines for fare evasion. However, the building also houses important facilities: the Drak tram photo exhibition on the first floor, the dispatcher’s office, which manages the city’s public transport system, and the general director’s office on the fifth floor. From the sixth floor, which includes a canteen and meeting room, there is a panoramic view of the surroundings. The basement contains technical and service facilities, including the heat exchanger station, electrical distribution, backup power and storage areas.
