The Brno – Modřice Wastewater Treatment Plant treats wastewater not only from the city of Brno but also from surrounding towns and villages, making it one of the largest treatment plants in the Czech Republic.

The plant is a mechanical-biological treatment facility with sludge and energy management systems. It has undergone extensive reconstruction and expansion and meets the strictest EU environmental standards. Around 35 million cubic metres of wastewater pass through the plant each year—more than twice the volume of the Brno Reservoir.

The facility serves Brno and nearby areas including Kuřim, Modřice, Želešice and Česká, as well as 16 other towns and villages. A major upgrade of the sludge processing line is planned to continue providing service for roughly 435,000 residents in Brno and the surrounding region.

For safety reasons, children under 15 are not allowed to enter the plant. Visitors aged 15 and older may enter only when accompanied by an adult.
