The community Centre for Foreigners in the South Moravian Region, which has been helping foreigners on their journey to integration into Czech society since 2009, is located in an administrative building in the Brussels style at Kounicova Street 13.

The administrative building was originally constructed as an operational facility for the Transport Construction Institute, which was a part of Stavoprojekt. Since 1960, it fell under the organizational structure of Dopravoprojekt Bratislava. In 1968, the independent company Dopravoprojekt Brno was established, and since 2008, it has been a part of the SUDOP GROUP design companies.

The seven-storey administrative building was constructed between 1966 and 1969. The building represents a valuable example of an administrative building from that era. It is one of the few buildings in downtown Brno with the original cladding on the front façade made of dark blue opaxite glass panels. The main building, with a rectangular floor plan and a flat roof, is supported by a reinforced concrete skeleton. The ground floor is recessed and supported by piloti, which are covered with the original black glass cladding. The five-storey mass above the ground floor features a predominantly glazed façade with horizontal sections alternating between strips of windows and dark blue glass cladding. The recessed later addition of the seventh floor, with two rows of windows stacked on top of each other, complements the building’s composition positively.

The Centre, located in this building, offers Czech language courses, legal and social counselling, socio-cultural lectures, multicultural activities, and adaptation-integration courses. Some activities are free and are open not only to foreigners but also to institutions and the general public. The Centre employs excellent and skilled experts. It is part of the integration centres that help foreigners in various regions across the Czech Republic.
