Vlněna is a modern office, retail, and lifestyle complex that connects Brno’s historic city centre with the rapidly developing commercial zone in the south of the city.
The complex is a flagship example of brownfield revitalisation, transforming the former Vlněna textile factory site into a vibrant urban environment. Today, it provides office space for around 3,500 people, alongside shops, restaurants, cafés, a gym, library, relaxation areas, and play zones. The 40,000 m² site is framed by Dornych, Přízova, and Mlýnská streets, with the Svitava Canal marking its eastern edge.
The site is organised along a north–south axis. Along this line, the main buildings—A, B, C to the east and F, G, H to the west—create a harmonious layout designed by Studio Acht. Avast’s Brno offices, inspired by the company’s Prague headquarters, meet Silicon Valley standards in design and functionality. Buildings along Přízova Street were completed in 2018, with additional buildings and the Bochner Palace finishing in 2019. Environmental, social, and economic sustainability were key priorities throughout construction, including the use of eco-friendly technologies.
The modern Vlněna building hosts most of Avast’s global virus-lab team, Czech software engineers developing core products, and research teams focused on artificial intelligence and IoT device security, making it a hub of technological innovation in the heart of Brno.
